HCPCS codes are updated annually. You can obtain the updated code set from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) at no charge, or if you prefer, from a licensed subscription through the American Medical Association (AMA). You can use the BASYS utility to load the code set.<\/p>\n<h3>Level II HCPCS Procedure &amp; Modifiers<\/h3>\n<p>HCPCS codes are used primarily to identify products, supplies and services not included in the CPT codes, such as ambulance services and durable medical equipment, prosthetics, orthotics, and supplies (DMEPOS) when used outside a physician&#8217;s office. These codes are available at no charge from the Center for Medicare &amp; Medicare Services (CMS), and we\u2019ll include the code file for you with the deployment of the utility \u2013 no license is required. You can use the basys utility to load the code set.<\/p>\n<table width=\"756\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"41\">#<\/td>\n<td><strong>Details about the process<\/strong><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>\u00a01.<\/td>\n<td>To download the HCPCS Level II code file and make it available to the utility, go to the CMS HCPCS Quarterly Update page <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cms.gov\/medicare\/coding-billing\/healthcare-common-procedure-system\/quarterly-update\">here<\/a>. Download the latest ZIP file. After downloading, extract the ZIP file to a folder on your system. Locate the file named in the format HCPCYYYY_Month_ANWEB.txt (e.g., HCPC2025_April_ANWEB.txt). This is the file you\u2019ll use with the utility\u2014make sure it\u2019s placed or referenced in the location your utility expects.<\/p>\n<p>The following is a statement from CMS regarding the file contents: &#8220;<em>In light of copyright agreements, this file does not contain the American Medical Association&#8217;s Level I CPT-4 codes nor the American Dental Association&#8217;s CDT-20 codes. Copies of CPT-4 code books can be purchased from the American Medical Association at 1-800-621-8335 or 515 North State Street, Chicago, Illinois 60610. At this time, basys is not planning on providing a utility to load the ADA&#8217;s CDT D-codes.
